Roseburg area public schools have earned a reputation for excellence and support from their patrons. Additionally, a number of private schools and programs offer preschool, basic, religious, vocational, arts and specialty instruction to students of all ages. Private nursery, kindergarten and day schools are available. Home schooling is legal in the State of Oregon.

Umpqua Community College
This two-year, public institution serves over 19,000 students annually, offering adult basic instruction, technical and vocational programs, self-enrichment classes, liberal arts studies and pre-professional courses. Answering the needs of, and working in partnership with, the local business community, UCC has recently initiated several important new programs, including viticulture (grape growing) and enology (wine making), medical coding and paralegal studies.
